Summary – Clean, great service, warm welcome, varied menu with reasonable prices.
When I found the Tal Al Qamar restaurant I had been walking around Ajman for a few hours looking for somewhere that looked nice, wasn’t too expensive and I could sit outside and watch the sun go down as I had something to eat.
It was around 5pm on a September evening so the weather was still very warm. The restaurant had a small patio area at the front with a tables and chairs to sit outside but there was no-one there and I wondered if the place was closed.
The restaurant has a slightly Mediterranean or maybe I should say Greek feel to it and being European, subconsciously, I think that is why I was drawn to the place. Emigrating is an amazing thing to do but it doesn’t mean you don’t still miss familiar things.
I approached the glass door to find out if the place was open and before I reached the waiter opened the door for me and invited me in. I asked if they were open and he said yes and offered me a table to sit at. I asked if I could sit outside and I was given a slightly quizzical look as it was hot and inside there was nice air conditioning but I explained I was Scottish and I liked the heat so I was shown a table outside.
One of the owners of the restaurant was there at the same time and we got talking about many topics as if we had known each other for a longtime.
I had the grilled Hamour, a dish served by most restaurants in Ajman and it was exactly what I needed after my long walk. The restaurant serves Arabic and other international foods so there is always something for everyone to choose from and if you order too much they are happy to wrap it up for you to take away with you to have later.
Tal Al Qamar is in a perfect spot to watch the sun going down in the evening. My photography isn’t the best but here’s one I took to give you an idea of the view.
I’ve spent many pleasant evenings there since then and the owners and staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. I really did find my home away from home when I found Tal Al Qamar.
